What is EBT?

It’s an acronym for Evangelist Basic Training.

I teach a natural, organic way to share the faith, the good news of Jesus Christ. No knocking on doors, no scripts to memorize, no pressure tactics.

EBT lasts three weeks, Monday – Saturday. Its the first of two parts of training.

The second part is CEE or Continuing Education and Encouragement. These emails are sent each Tuesday and Thursday after you complete EBT.

The next Evangelist Basic Training session begins on Monday, January 6th.

You don’t have to wait. Sign up now and I will include you in this next training. You will receive CEE emails until EBT starts. When EBT ends you will start receiving CEE again.

Here’s the scoop:

• You’ll learn basic evangelism concepts.

The EBT emails are short and easy reads, but packed with valuable lessons taken from different life stories. They can be applied to our own situations we may face when answering questions about the Orthodox Faith. – Dn. Michael Haddad

• One short, informative email per day for three weeks.

This must have been the fastest three weeks ever! Thank you for these helpful lessons and inspirational stories. I especially appreciated yesterday’s reading about Ernie and your interactions with him inside and outside of church. Many thanks. – Debbie Vogel

• Learn to talk with anyone about our faith, even strangers.

One aspect about EBT I enjoyed, was the use of your own personal stories/life experiences. Your experiences with evangelism make it seem that being evangelistic is really quite simple and not “pushy” at all.

Another aspect I enjoyed was how simply put things were. Specifically, as a person newer to the Orthodox faith, all topics were easy to understand and follow. I’d recommend EBT for all Christians, especially those who don’t know how to start talking to others about the faith. – Karley Kraft

• No specialized theological knowledge is needed.

I thought I had to be an expert to invite people to consider a relationship with God, or to defend Christian beliefs, and reply to each point or error people made.

Deacon Raphael’s emails taught me how to gently respond to people angry at the world or God. He teaches listening skills, empathy, respect, and a simple truth that touches them in their specific situation, especially with short focused stories.

I know for certain that it has opened “God Doors” for those people, and the conversations end on a very positive, friendly and soothing note for their troubled hearts. That experience prepares them to open the next God door. – Barbara Beard

• Find out how easy it is to handle difficult questions.

One thing you’ll really like about Deacon Raphael’s Evangelism program is he teaches how to handle difficult questions that come up in conversations. Not only that, he is available after the initial training to help with difficult questions you might encounter. That’s how it’s been for me. – Subdeacon Sammy Sayegh

• It’s three weeks of emails each morning, Monday – Saturday. Each email takes about five minutes to read.

Cindy and I highly recommend Dn. Raphael’s Evangelist training program to anyone who would like to learn how to share their faith, but who might not feel comfortable doing so. He provides short, easily understandable, practical ways to share our faith in a conversational and non-threatening manner.

And the course is easy – it’s all online, takes only minutes per lesson, and does not require you to do anything you don’t want to do. Once you take the course and tap into Dn. Raphael’s lessons on how to comfortably and confidently share your faith, you’ll ask yourself why you haven’t shared your faith more often with those you encounter every day? Cindy said the course was “eye-opening, exhilarating, educational, rewarding. and inspirational.” Don’t miss this opportunity. – Brad Abramson

• Basic fears, roles, and goals of evangelism are covered. The end result is you and any person you speak with will feel natural and comfortable talking about our faith.

Your evangelist program has changed my life. I have been unapologetically and defiantly Orthodox for a long while, but I didn’t know how to feel my way through a conversation with others about Christ. Being woefully unprepared to talk about Christ, I was happy to let others be. But by paying attention to “God Doors” I am realizing that many people really want to know more.

Your stories and examples are encouraging and preparing me to have such conversations without awkwardness. I find that God is providing opportunities to talk about Christ in unlikely places. Remembering what you teach about how to talk with people, even strangers, about Christ and the Orthodox Church helps the words to flow more easily.

I will continue to follow your program because it has become an integral part of my spiritual life. Please continue to guide us all. – Debra Fox

• After the three weeks, I will send two emails per week for further education and encouragement.

Dn. Raphael, I have been thoroughly impressed with your evangelist teaching. This is a marvelous program you have created. It is truly brilliant, including the Tuesday and Thursday emails. I hope I can actually practice your teachings. From this program I became closer to God, which means a lot to me. – Sam Nassif

• This training is different from what just about everyone thinks they know about evangelism.

I have loved the training so far, but I had to stop and email you about how MUCH I love today’s entry… I will carry your final statement in my heart: “Don’t ever turn anyone you meet into a project. Ever. Care about people you meet with genuine love, and as a person. Always.” What a wonderful way to approach evangelism. – Jessica L Skinner, PhD
